Finance Committee
Responsibilities Include:
Budget Preparation and Management: Oversee the development of the annual budget. Work closely with staff to prepare a realistic and fiscally responsible budget that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives. Financial Reporting and Analysis: Regularly review financial reports for accuracy and clarity. Provide insights and analysis on the organization's financial health, including income, expenditures, and cash flow. Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensure the implementation and effectiveness of internal financial controls. Oversee compliance with financial regulations and standards, and ensure that all financial activities are conducted legally and ethically. Investment Oversight: Monitor the organization's investments and ensure they are managed prudently. Provide recommendations on investment policies and strategies that align with the organization’s mission and financial goals. Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the fundraising committee or department to set financial goals for fundraising events and campaigns. Offer insights on financial feasibility and the potential financial impact of fundraising activities. Audit Coordination: Facilitate the annual audit process. Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and external auditors, ensuring that necessary information is provided for a thorough audit. Risk Management: Assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Ensure that the organization has adequate insurance coverage and that policies are updated as needed. Policy Development: Develop and recommend financial policies to the board. Regularly review and update financial policies to adapt to changing circumstances and ensure continued financial health. Board Reporting and Advisement: Provide regular financial updates and advisement to the Board of Directors. Assist the board in understanding the organization’s financial status and in making informed financial decisions. Long-Term Financial Planning: Contribute to the organization's long-term financial planning, including capital planning and reserves strategy.
Community Development Committee
Responsibilities Include:
Community Needs Assessment: Conduct regular assessments to identify the current needs, challenges, and opportunities within the community. This involves engaging with community members, local leaders, and other stakeholders to gather relevant data and insights. Program Development and Implementation: Design and oversee the implementation of community development programs. This includes planning activities, initiatives, or projects that address identified community needs, such as economic development, education, health, or social services. Partnership Building: Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, government agencies, other nonprofits, and community groups. These collaborations are essential for leveraging resources, sharing expertise, and enhancing the impact of community development efforts. Community Engagement and Advocacy: Actively engage with the community to ensure their voices and needs are represented. Advocate on behalf of the community for access to resources, policy changes, or other support that will benefit their development and wellbeing. Monitoring and Evaluation: Implement strategies to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community development programs. This includes setting performance indicators, collecting data, and analyzing outcomes to inform future program adjustments and improvements. Fundraising and Resource Mobilization: Assist in fundraising efforts to support community development initiatives. This may include grant writing, organizing fundraising events, and developing other resource mobilization strategies. Reporting and Communication: Regularly report to the board of directors and other relevant parties on the progress and impact of community development activities. Ensure transparent and effective communication with stakeholders and the community. Policy and Advocacy: Participate in policy development related to community development. Advocate for policies and practices that support the growth and improvement of the community. Capacity Building: Work towards strengthening the capacities of local community groups or leaders. This can involve organizing training sessions, workshops, or providing other educational resources. Sustainability Planning: Ensure that community development projects and initiatives are sustainable. This involves considering long-term impacts and how to maintain positive outcomes beyond the life of specific projects.

This involves setting long-term goals, defining strategies to achieve them, and identifying key performance indicators. Project Planning and Management: Oversee the planning and execution of specific projects. This includes defining project scopes, timelines, budgets, and ensuring projects align with the organization’s strategic objectives. Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to inform planning decisions. This may involve market research, demographic studies, or analysis of trends relevant to the organization’s mission and objectives. Policy Development: Assist in the development of organizational policies that guide the decision-making process. Ensure these policies are in line with the organization’s goals and regulatory requirements. Resource Allocation: Make recommendations on the allocation of resources, including finances, personnel, and time, to ensure the effective implementation of the organization’s plans. Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the implementation of strategic plans and projects. Develop strategies to mitigate these risks. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including board members, staff, donors, and community members, to gather input and build consensus around the organization’s plans.
